One man. One woman. One dog.
One big yellow truck. Around Africa.
How it all got started
It may sound unlikely but bizarrely, neither of us can remember exactly when it was decided that we would sell our lovely sunny home near Brighton beach, rehome our two beloved cats and relocate into a 12ft by 7ft box on the back of a six ton vehicle - that Janey couldn't even drive, and head to Africa - a continent Tom had never even visited.
It must have seemed like a good idea at the time because before we knew it we were standing in the pouring rain in a village near the Yorkshire Dales looking at a huge bright yellow unimog trying to tell ourselves not to do anything rash. But it was too late, we were smitten. One surprisingly swift visit to the bank and a few phone calls later, she was ours. We were midly terrified - what on earth had we done? Our friends and family were similarly baffled. But now, two years later, it still feels like the best decision we ever made. We may still have our moments of doubt (despite Tom's claims that he was "born ready"!), but now that we have made it to Cape Town and amazingly we're half way round, it still feels like the best decision we've ever made.
